It seems like simple advice, but it’s so much harder than it sounds. That does not change the veracity of it, however. The truth is, if you want to be a published author, you need to write.

A lot.

Sure, you might think, well, it’s my hobby for now, and it would be great one day if something came out of it. I used to think that way too! It is easy to let every day life get in the way, especially if you aren’t being paid to write.

But there’s the rub: if you do not show up for your writing, you will not get the opportunities for something to grow from it.
